Independent candidate Ian Arnold has been elected as new representative for Whissendine on Rutland County Council.

He polled 212 votes, 110 ahead of second-placed Peter Jones, for the Conservative party.

Sue Lammin (Independent) got 46 votes with Liberal Democrat Johannah Randall receiving 32.

The by-election was held yesterday (Thursday) following the resignation of Liberal Democrat member, Councillor Kevin Thomas.
