NEWSFLASH: A woman has died in a Melton house fire

A 72-year-old woman died in a house fire at Melton last night (Sunday).

Two men, aged 70 and 32, were taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham suffering from smoke inhalation.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service is investigating the cause of the blaze, which happened in Lambert Close at 8.10pm.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “The emergency services were called to the property following reports that the property was well alight.

“Sadly a 72 year old woman has died and two men, aged 70 and 32, have been taken to hospital in Nottingham where they are receiving treatment for smoke inhalation.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation but at this stage it is not believed to be suspicious.”
