Miss Leicestershire finalist organises family fundraising day

A Melton mum bidding to be crowned Miss Leicestershire 2016 has organised an activity-packed charity family fundraising day being held in the town on Sunday (May 1).

Georgie Firmager (22) is among the finalists in the Miss Leicestershire 2016 contest, with the winner due to be announced at a pageant taking place at Scalford Hall on May 20. The winner will go on to represent Leicestershire at the national final of the Miss Great Britain competition being held in Leicester in September.

As part of the Miss Leicestershire competition Georgie, of Blyth Avenue, had to get involved in charity work.

So she organised a family fun day being held at the Cherry Tree pub on Edendale Road on Sunday (May 1) from 1pm.

She’s hoping to raise as much money as possible for her chosen charity Steps - the leading voice and national charity for lower limb conditions in the UK.

The fun day will include all sorts of activities for children and adults including face painting, cake stall, apple bobbing, drawing competition, bouncy castle, a fun run, beer challenge, photo booth and professional photographer, adult quiz, raffle/tombola and lots more. There will also be entertainment going on into the evening from 7.30pm, including a disco and karaoke from 6pm until midnight.

Georgie, who has a four-year-old son, Addison, said: “I’ve put a lot of work into organising the family fundraising day so I’m hoping it’s going to be a great day. There are loads of activities going on and lots of really great prizes to be won.”
