Minute’s silence in remembrance of Paris attack victims this morning

A minute​’s silence is to be held across Europe this morning, Monday 16 November, at 11am (UK time), in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the series of terrorist attacks in Paris, France.

The terrorist incidents, which took place on Friday 13 November, claimed at least 129 lives and resulted in widespread casualties.

As a mark of respect and expression of solidarity, all Whitehall government departments have lowered their Union Flags to half-mast.

Local authorities are not bound by this request​,​ but may wish to follow it for guidance. Devolved administrations are responsible for issuing instructions for the flying of the Union Flag on buildings in their estate and others as necessary.
