The service at Sage Cross was attended by a large congregation, including well-wishers from the Rev Skinner’s previous churches in the Oldham area.

There were welcomes to him from members of the Methodist circuit, the Rev Kevin Ashby, representing Melton Churches Together, and a civic welcome from Councillor David Wright, Mayor of Melton. He was accompanied by the Mayoress, his wife Maureen Wright.

The Rev Skinner responded with thanks for his warm welcome.

The hearty singing from the congregation was followed by an afternoon tea served in the Wesley Hall.
