Melton Vintage and Classic Vehicle Fun Day gives crowds a wheelie good time

Onlookers enjoyed the various colours, makes, models, and sizes of vehicles that were on display in Melton town centre on Sunday.

The Rotary Club of Melton Mowbray held another successful vintage and classic vehicle fun day in the Market Place.

Crowds enjoyed over 60 vehicles and motorbikes, New Saint George Morris dancers, a tombola, cake stall, Hattie the Clown with balloon making skills, hook-a-duck from the Aurora Club and a sponsored cycle from the Satellite Club.

The Best in Show title, voted for by the public, was awarded to Nigel Green, for his Mark 1 Ford Mexico.

Music and commentary was provided by 103 The Eye, and all profits from the day will be given to charities and projects supported by Rotary.

Rotarian Ian Neale said: “We are delighted with this fourth annual event. It is growing, so we have already set the date for next year, September 1.”

Raffle results - 1st: David Sharpe, £50; 2nd: Jean Hamblin, meal for two at Synsonby Knoll; 3rd: Sabina Silcox, tea for two at Gates Nurseries.
