Melton Slimming World groups have collected 249 bags of clothes, shoes and accessories from members who slimmed out of their old wardrobes and feel confident they’ll never need their ‘before’ clothes again.

With each bag worth around £25 to the charity, slimmers in Melton have raised around £6,225 for Cancer Research UK.

Consultants Amy, Mandy and Paula, who run weekly groups in Melton, said: “Members of Slimming World groups have really embraced this fabulous fundraising campaign and they’ve been more than happy to donate their ‘big’ clothes because they know that they’re never going to need them again.

“One in three of us are affected by cancer and being overweight increases the risk of developing the disease, so we’re determined to do anything we can do to help fight cancer and help people lead healthier lives.”

Last year slimmers across the UK donated £888,586 worth of stock. All profits go to the charity’s life-saving work to help beat cancer sooner.
