Melton nurseries urged to take part in the Barnado's Big Toddle

Nurseries across Melton are being invited to sign up for this year's Barnardo's Big Toddle to raise more money for vulnerable children and young people.

Barnardo’s have said a big thank you to children’s nurseries in Melton after they helped to raise £1,507 last year having fun by holding pirate themed Big Toddles last summer.

And the children’s charity is now asking nurseries, child-minders and parents to register to take part in this year’s animal-themed Big Toddle, which will be extra special as it will mark the Barnardo’s 150th anniversary.

Last year, toddlers at Little Rascals Day Nursery in Welby Lane, Melton, Phoenix Pre-School, Brampton Road, Melton and Tree Cottage Nursery, Stapleford dressed up as pirates and donned eye patches as they completed half a mile to raise money for the UK’s most disadvantaged children and young people.

Amanda Warrant, Barnardo’s fundraising manager, said: “We’re really grateful for the great support we’ve had from Melton Mowbray toddlers and their families over the years.

“The event is a lovely opportunity for everyone to enjoy themselves and help raise vital funds for vulnerable children at the same time.

Money raised goes to our work in the local area with children and young people, such as those who live in poverty or who have a disability.

“This is also a really special year for the charity, as it’s our 150th year.

“We’re really excited so many people are taking part our animal theme Big Toddle, and we’re hoping more people will sign up to join in the fun.”
