Melton is happiest place to live in Leicestershire

Data collected over three years has been used to measure the wellbeing of more than 300,000 people across the UK.

People were asked to score their happiness and life satisfaction between 0 and 10.

In Melton, the average happiness score was 7.77.

The local authority data by ONS showed that, out of the whole of the East Midlands region, the only people happier than Melton folk were those living in south Northamptonshire which had an average happiness score of 7.86.

The recently published ONS findings were based on three years of data collected between April 2012 and March 2015.
