Melton Carnegie Museum to benefit from £87,300 grant funding boost

The investment will be used by Leicestershire County Council to create a development programme for the museum, working with other museums in the East Midlands, to ensure it continues to appeal to a wide range of visitors.

The funding will support the county council to work with Museum Development East Midlands to set up a development and mentoring network between Melton Carnegie Museum and four other regional market town museums. This new network will support the museums to share resources and make stronger and more varied community connections to broaden their audiences.

Councillor Richard Blunt, County Hall’s cabinet member for museums, said: “We’re delighted to be awarded the funding which will help us continue to offer a celebration of local history and heritage in the area, enhance our visitor experience and help us reach a much wider audience.”

Arts Council England area director Peter Knott said: “This latest investment is about helping our region’s museums become more sustainable, so their rich collections can be used and enjoyed for many years to come.”
