Hair and beauty students from Brooksby Melton College (BMC) have been offering hairdressing, massage, and nail treatments to residents at The Amwell, a new ‘all-inclusive’ residential, nursing, dementia and respite care home on Asfordby Road.

As all BMC courses take a career-focused approach, the college has teamed up with The Amwell to offer highly beneficial work experience placements for some of its students in the care home’s luxurious beauty spa.

The Amwell care home manager Chris Batty said: “Working in a professional beauty spa environment is a fantastic opportunity for BMC’s hair and beauty students to gain valuable industry knowledge and experience, with a view to it leading to work after they have completed their qualifications.

“The staff here are incredibly positive about developing a long-lasting relationship with Brooksby Melton College. We pride ourselves in providing world-class levels of care to our residents and we feel it’s important to extend that good will and kindness out to the local community and its young people to help them progress in their studies.”
