Melton breakfast wakes people up to crucial fair trade message

More than thirty Fairtrade campaigners tucked in to a delicious breakfast at Melton's Sage Cross Methodist Church as part of Fair Trade Fortnight.

The Melton Mowbray Fairtrade Steering Group joined thousands of people on Saturday across the country also enjoying a Fairtrade breakfast.

The event was supported by Melton Mayor Jeanne Douglas who joined the group in sampling some of the delights of Fairtrade tea and coffee, muffins, flapjacks, jam and muesli.

One of Melton’s Fairtrading Post directors, Lynn Marriott said: “We had a really successful morning and raised around £80 from donations.

“The breakfast we ate highlighted how heavily we rely on farmers across the world.”

Fairtrade accreditation ensures producers are paid a fair wage so they can support their families.
