High Sheriffs of Leicester and Rutland raise funds for charity Hope Against Cancer
The High Sheriff of Rutland Dr Sarah Furness and her counterpart from Leicester Surinder Sharma have handed over a cheque for more than £1,700 to Hope Against Cancer.
The money was raised from a 10-mile walk across the borders of Rutland and Leicestershire, starting from Launde Abbey. The funds raised from the walk were split between Hope Against Cancer and Warning Zone.
Chief executive of Hope Against Cancer Nigel Rose said: “We are honoured and delighted to have the joint support of both High Sheriffs this year. Hope Against Cancer was founded in 2003 by the then High Sheriff of Leicestershire Allison Wilson and it is wonderful to have that legacy and the continuing support today of the Office of High Sheriff.”
