Others who spoke over dinner included district governor elect, R.I. District 1070, Chris Davies and by Kate Jones, president of the Rotary Club of Melton Aurora.
The theme of the evening, “Painting the Town Red,” where everyone wore a red item of clothing, was expanded upon by the guest speaker Ruth Wakeling, who has been instrumental in organising the Christmas Victorian Fayre in the town over the years.
She explained that on Sunday, June 18, from 10am until 4pm, she is starting a new venture called Painting the Town Red in Melton. She urged everyone to keep the date free when there will be, amongst other things, a speciality food market, Morris dancing, afternoon teas, steam and vintage vehicles on display, country craft and countryside demonstrations, livestock, a dog show, sheep sharing demonstrations, a graffiti artist and a climbing wall to tackle.
