Flying Scotsman makes return trip through Melton

World-famous locomotive Flying Scotsman hurtled through the Melton area again on Saturday, with crowds of steam enthusiasts gathering at Melton Statio and along the route to see it.

Here’s a selection of photos people sent to the Melton Times as the train passed through the Melton area on its London to York journey.

A police helicopter flew above and ahead of the locomotive in a bid to prevent a repeat of an incident in the county in February, when people trespassed on the line forcing all trains on the East Coast mainline to stop.
