Female casualty trapped in vehicle after accident near Melton

Firefighters had to cut a female casualty free of the wreckage when the car she was travelling in was involved in an accident this morning (Monday).

The incident happened on the A46 southbound, between the A606 junction and the Willoughby on the Wolds turning, at 10.46am.

Fire crews from Melton and Birstall attended and the scene.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A female casualty was extricated from the vehicle and the scene was made safe.

“The patient was transported to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham and police arranged recovery of the vehicle.”
