Uneven paving stones to be made safer on Melton town centre footpath
A Melton Mowbray town centre footpath with uneven paving stones which has led to many people tripping over in recent years is to be made safer.
Leicestershire County Council is to carry out works on Sunday February 1 on the path, which runs alongside St Mary’s Church on Burton Street.

The highways department will need to close the road and the footpath for the day with work also taking place on the road.
A spokesperson for the council said: “A Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) is to be made for Burton Street, Melton Mowbray.

“The purpose of the TTRO is to allow Leicestershire County Council to carry out ironwork defect repairs in the carriageway and tree root pruning and pavement slab resetting on the footway in front of St Mary’s church.
“The TTRO will incorporate a temporary road closure and footway closure.
“The duration of the restriction is not anticipated to exceed a period of one day, commencing on Sunday February 1, 2026.
