New electric car puts firm in driving seat

A ECO-FRIENDLY firm hopes to show motorist customers how to drive down their fuel and energy bills after taking delivery of a new company electric car.

David Hill, managing director of renewable energy installation company Carbon Legacy, based in Hickling Pastures, is now driving one of only a handful of Chevy Volts on the UK’s roads.

The car, imported from America, is powered by an electric battery assisted by a petrol motor that generates more electricity when needed.

The car is fuelled by solar power generated at Carbon Legacy and at Mr Hill’s home.

He said: “The electricity to power the car is free and green. We hope to show customers even driving can give you a sound return with a solar installation.”
