Pre-bookings have had to be made as coronavirus restrictions have been eased across the county.

But Leicestershire County Council say residents can just turn up from Monday at the town site in Lake Terrace and those in Somerby and Bottesford.

Appointments will still be needed, however, at the sites today (Thursday) and through to Sunday.

Councillor Blake Pain, cabinet member for environment and the green agenda, said: “We’re making this move in line with the government’s lifting of Covid-19 restrictions from Monday.

“However, we would encourage all visitors to our sites to apply common sense in line with government advice.

“That way they will reduce the risk to themselves and respect other people when on our sites.”

People visiting in vans, pick-ups and cars with trailers will need to have a waste permit after Monday.

Permits are also required for any vehicle bringing in asbestos, chemicals or liquid paint.
