A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after a collision on the A607 near Melton Mowbray yesterday (Monday).

The road was closed, between Kirby Bellars and Melton, close to the Great Dalby junction, for more than six hours.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police told the Melton Times this morning: “This was a collision reported at 5.17pm, involving a motorbike and van on Leicester Road, at Kirby Bellars.

"The motorcycle rider was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham.

"Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”
