Police urge residents to be security alert in the day

POLICE are urging residents to be security cautious following a string of burglaries in the Hamilton Drive area of Melton.

PC Simon Williams said: “We have seen three burglaries over a period of a couple of weeks.

“They have occurred in the daytime and entry was gained through open or insecure windows.

“I would encourage residents to help stop opportunists gaining entry by ensuring their windows are locked and secured before leaving the house.”

Following the incidents Melton’s Neighbourhood Watch have been asked to report any suspicious vehicles in the area and have been advised that if they suspect crime is being committed to call 999.
