Police hunt suspect after cash theft from 85-year-old woman

Police have released a CCTV image of a woman they want to talk to in connection with the theft of cash and a bank card from the Asfordby home of an 85-year-old woman.

It was reported that the crime took place between Wednesday June 16 and Monday June 21, with £330 being taken in cash and then a total of a further £1,500 being subsequently withdrawn from cash points around Melton.

The victim was in hospital at the time of the thefts from her home, say Leicestershire Police.

Det Con Beth Pick said: “This was a cruel crime carried out with the knowledge that the property was unoccupied.

“Entry was not forced so the person responsible had or was given access to the property.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has any information that could help us identify the woman in the CCTV image.”
