Melton police threaten to seize cars to stop anti-social behaviour
Officers have stepped up patrols at Tesco, off Thorpe Road, after fielding a series of complaints from residents about such activity.
They have also put up posters which state: ‘If a vehicle is being used in a manner which is causing or is likely to cause alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public, the police have the power to seize the motorised vehicle - Vehicles will be seized without further warning’.

A spokesperson for the Melton neighbourhood policing unit said: “The posters inform those who gather there of the police powers, that we will enforce on any vehicle that is causing, or is likely to cause, alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public.
“The good news is that local residents have informed their local councillors last week that the issue has improved recently, since the greater police involvement.
“However, we will continue to engage, educate and, if necessary, enforce with the groups that gather at the location.
