Police have arrested a 44-year-old man on suspicion of carrying out a sexual assault in Melton in July, as part of a special operation targeting criminal suspects across the county.
The suspect, who has not been named, was released under investigation by officers involved in Operation Cabriolet yesterday (Wednesday).
The operation focused on individuals suspected of crime in live or unsolved investigations, who are the subject of prison recalls or wanted on warrant.
Three men from Leicester are in custody after being charged with offences including burglary, theft, common assault and breaching a restraining order.
Two others were also arrested as part of the operation - a 32-year-old male burglary suspect was released with no further action and a 41-year-old man was recalled to prison.
Since Leicestershire Police introduced Operation Cabriolet in June last year, 291 addresses have been visited and 82 arrests have been made.
A police spokesperson said: “Operation Cabriolet aims to locate those who target vulnerable people and businesses across the force area and bring them to justice.
“The force will continue to do all it can to bring those who commit offences in the community to justice.
“Anyone who has information about criminal activity in their area is urged to contact police on 101.”
