Burglars target ATM after breaking into Bottesford store

Burglars who broke into a supermarket in Bottesford are believed to have been targeting the ATM cash machine which is inside the building.

The break-in happened in the early hours of Saturday at the Co-op store in Grantham Road.

Extensive damage was caused to the front of the store as the suspects entered through the front doors around 1.10am.

Leicestershire Police officers are working to identify if any property was stolen - it is believed an attempt was made to break into the ATM but this was unsuccessful.

Det Insp Jim Hatton said: “Our investigation to establish what happened and identify those responsible are at early stage and a number of enquiries are ongoing including the review of CCTV in the area and carrying out house to house enquiries.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who may have any information relating to this burglary to get in touch.

“Perhaps they saw the suspects leave in a vehicle?

“Did they see someone in the area acting suspiciously before the burglary took place?”
