Band left flat by cash theft
THIEVES smashed the windscreen of a car and stole £150 which had been raised by The Melton Band at a tombola.
The incident happened after the band had performed at Melton Country Fair on Sunday.
The Melton Band is actively fundraising to secure its long-term future. The money raised on the stall had been earmarked for its training band which provides opportunities for all ages to learn and play.
The theft happened between 5pm and 6.45pm in the Burton Street car park.
Band chairman Colin Pearson said: “I felt totally deflated when I found out what had happened.”
