24-year-old man dies following Syston stabbing

Police have named a 24-year-old man who died after sustaining stab wounds in Syston on Saturday.

Connor Black passed away in the Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham, in the early hours of yesterday (Sunday).

Police were called by East Midlands Ambulance Service at 11.06pm on Saturday following a report that a man had been stabbed.

Officers attended a property in St Columba Way and Connor was found inside suffering from stab wounds to his chest.

Kaylon Wilson (21), of St Columba Way, Syston, who was arrested at the scene at the time of the incident, has now been charged with murder.

Wilson has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates Court this morning.

Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the incident, including checking CCTV and house to house visits.

Det Insp Kenny Henry, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, who is leading the investigation, said: “A 24-year-old man has lost his life and we are carrying out full enquiries at the scene to establish what has happened.

“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area of St Columba Way on Saturday evening and who saw or heard anything which caused them concern to make contact with us.

“If you have any information which you think could help our enquiries – no matter how insignificant it may seem – you should also get in touch.

“Similarly anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area yesterday evening should make contact with us if you have not already done so.”
