Hide AdMelton Council’s planning committee discussed the proposed scheme on Thursday but councillors decided to defer the application as they wanted more information regarding key issues of concern, namely the impact upon heritage assets, flood risk and impact upon the village primary school which is already over capacity.
As previously reported in the Melton Times the council had received more than 200 letters of objection to the proposals. Objections included the proposed development being out of character with the village, having an adverse impact upon the conservation area, the development being unsustainable and traffic and parking problems.
Davidsons say the scheme is sustainable, that the benefits of the scheme outweigh any adverse impacts and that permission should be granted in light of the council ‘falling well short of a five-year land supply’.
