Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland’s day care provision acts as a lifeline for many people who, without the support of the service, would have to go into care.

Key to the service’s success are the transport arrangements Age UK has in place whereby older people are picked up from home in the morning taken to the day centre and taken back home in the evening.

Primarily because of retirement the charity is now desperately short of drivers to work in Melton and the surrounding areas.

Executive director Anthony Donovan said: “The role played by the charity’s fleet of drivers and care assistant drivers cannot be underestimated. The contribution they make to the service is immense.”
