Visitors had an abundant choice of festive gifts, all crafted by club members. The fair, which raised £600, was organised in support of the installation of the Guinea Pig Club Memorial at the National Arboretum.

The “Guinea Pig Club” was founded in July 1941 by badly burned servicemen (mainly pilots and aircrew) who were being treated by the pioneering plastic surgeon Sir Archibald McIndoe, and his team.

The installation of the memorial was initiated by one of those airmen, Dr Sandy Saunders of Burton Lazars.
