Zombies on the run... for charity

A huge turnout ensured this week's third annual fundraising zombie run at Melton Country Park was a great success.

Not only did more than 200 people take part on Monday night, but more than £1,000 was raised for The Melton Learning Hub.

A total of 232 eager runners gathered in the warm up area at 7.15pm to do some group exercises to get the muscles warm.

Competitors then gathered at the start line and set off around the three-mile course in the pitch black.

Around the course they were met by lots of hidden zombies, a black hole and haunted grotto.

Screams were heard all across the park!

The race was won by the following three runners in their respective categories. Men’s: Will Folds; Ladies: Jo Anderson; Junior: Taylor Jordan.

Michael Connolly, from the country park, said: “A huge thank you has to go out to all the volunteers - there was over 25 on the night - who make the event possible and also a big thank you to all the competitors.

“The race was ran in good spirits and over £1,000 was raised for The Melton Learning Hub.”

The hub is a learning facility based in Melton for disengaged young people.
