Details have been revealed of the revived Saturday bus service running between Melton Mowbray and Nottingham.

Leicestershire County Council has funded the Centrebus 19 route on a trial basis with the first trips scheduled for November 2.

There will be four return journeys, starting from St Mary’s Way in Melton at 7.35am, 10.50am, 1.50pm and 4.50pm and returning from Nottingham’s Broadmarsh Bus Station at 9.40am, 11.45am, 2.45pm and 5.50pm.

The weekday 19 service was restarted in June this year after being axed by Centrebus in April 2022 because it wasn’t commercially viable.

Passengers called for the Saturday 19 bus to be revived as well so they can go shopping, watch sport or visit friends.

Stuart Forrester, local depot manager at Centrebus said: "I’m very much hoping we can make a success of it and potentially develop the service further if enough people use it.

"The government maximum £2 single fare makes the journey very cost effective and I urge people to give the 19 a try to ensure the route remains sustainable in the long term.”

Stops en route for the Saturday 19 service will be made at Ab Kettleby, Upper Broughton, Normanton on the Wolds and West Bridgford.

The early journey from Melton will terminate at Victoria Centre with the other trips ending at Broadmarsh.

Centrebus say: “In response to customer requests, we are extending the first journey into Nottingham to not run into Broadmarsh Bus Station but to instead to run up to Victoria Centre to provide better links to education and employment locations and to run 10 minutes earlier to give a more convenient time for customers.”
