Motorists will not be charged in the borough council’s long stay car parks, on Burton Street, Mill Street and Scalford Road.
The free parking scheme will be extended for the three following Fridays, on December 4, 11 and 18.
The aim is to encourage more people to do their Christmas shopping in Melton this year, particularly at the end of a year in which traders have suffered from the economic effects of coronavirus restrictions.
Drivers should be aware that part of the Burton Street car park, including the electric car charging area, will not be available over the next few weeks due to a temporary Covid-19 testing station being set up there.
A Christmas market is planned in the town for December 4-6, but this may depend on how tight future coronavirus restrictions are for the town.
