Music festivals, jazz evenings and open air cinema to be held in Play Close Park
Outdoor cinema evenings and extra music events have been added to a packed programme of public entertainment in Melton Mowbray this summer.
Melton Mowbray Town Estate is launching its Country on the Eye music festival on June 13, its hosting once again the Melton Ska Fest on July 25 and also holding new musical offerings in the form of Reggae Pon De Park on three dates throughout the summer.

Other music events will focus on ‘90s music, Northern Soul and Old Skool R&B while a series of jazz evenings can be enjoyed on a number of sultry summer evenings.
All of these festivals will take place in Play Close Park as part of the Town Estate’s quest to establish the town as a premier destination for culture.
In addition, a giant screen is returning to the park this year to show classic movies in the open air on the evenings of May 22, June 19, July 17 and August 21.
“Our 2026 calendar is a celebration of Melton’s vibrant spirit,” said Dean Rees, the Town Estate’s CEO.
“Following the success of our inaugural festivals last year, we’ve expanded our offering to ensure there is something for everyone – whether you’re a fan of Northern Soul, classic 90s R&B, or a relaxing evening of jazz under the stars.”
Market Place will also host the new series of Super Saturdays with the year rounded off with the annual fireworks festival and the Victorian Christmas Market.
