Karen Gimson of Rempstone, who recently appeared on Radio Leicester’s Down To Earth programme will explain the various design features and planning layout of the gardens at Hoby’s Glebe House, Church Gables and a modern, new build home.

She has more than 20 years experience as a designer and planting specialist and has previously led lectures at Brooksby Melton College.

Karen has organised the gardens tour to support her friend and fellow gardener Emma Scarborough of Upper Broughton, who is fundrasing for a permaculture project at Tillinanu Orphanage, in Malawi.

Through the charity Love Support Unite, Emma and her daughter Kate visited the orphanage in October 2015 to begin working on the project.

Both have pledged to raise £10,000 by October to fund the purchase of 400 fruit trees and seeds, the construction of composting toilets, a rainwater harvesting system for 100million gallons of water and the provision of micro loans.

The tour starts at Glebe House from 10.30am-2.30pm, on Saturday, February 6.

The event includes a light buffet lunch at Miles Nursery consisting of quiche, bread and salad followed by tea, coffee and cakes.

Places are limited and the organisers reserve the right to change the gardens due to be visited, if unforeseen circumstances arise.

Glebe House is a one acre garden that is still evolving and features wide borders, walls covered with roses, oak pergola with vines, and stunning views over the surrounding countryside.

Church Gables is virtually next door, and is a staged development. The first stage has just been completed and visitors will see the second area of the garden, before more work starts.

The new build garden has recently just been built and features modern black slate paving, steps and levels, and a stunning drystone wall.
