McCarthy and Stone is building a mix of 47 one and two-bed properties and nine bungalows off Scalford, on land formerly occupied by Catherine Dalley House nursing home.

The homes, which are for people aged over 60, have now been released for off-plan sales at Catherine Place and Pine Gardens, with the first owners set to move in later this year.

One-to-one appointments can be booked at the company’s sales office, in The Bell Centre shopping mall in town.

Appointments will be managed with the safety of visitors in mind, and all those who attend will receive an information pack, which contains a brochure, floor plans, prices, and service charge details.

Samantha Watkins, deputy divisional sales and marketing director for McCarthy Stone Midlands, said: “We’re very excited to announce that the wait is over for Melton Mowbray retirees, and they can now reserve a stylish apartment at Catherine Place or beautiful bungalow at Pine Gardens.

“We have already experienced high levels of demand for these properties, so I would urge interested purchasers to get in touch and book a one-to-one appointment as soon as possible – these will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.”

Each individual property is described as having spacious living areas and a high specification kitchen and bathroom.

The bungalows will benefit from private gardens, while the apartments have a balcony or a private patio area.

The apartments at Catherine Place will have a homeowners’ lounge overlooking landscaped gardens and a terrace, along with a hotel-style guest suite for when family or friends come to stay.

Future homeowners will benefit from a house manager, and a 24-hour emergency call system and camera entry system.

Work on the new development was held up in October 2019 when human bones were discovered by the builders and subsequently found to date back to between 635AD and 685AD.
