Historian to give talk on villages

Local historian Celia Cotton will give a talk on the history of Thrussington and Hoby at the Hoby and District Local History Society meeting on Wednesday.

The talk entitled “Thrussington and Hoby: A comparison of their changing use of land through the 18th to 20th centuries” will compare the two villages drawing upon inference from the naming of fields.

The event which is aimed at people of all ages is at Hoby Village Hall and starts from 7.30pm. The price for non- members is £2 on the door.

The Hoby and District Local History Society is a voluntary organisation. It brings together people from all walks of life who are interested in the local history of Leicestershire villages Hoby, Rotherby, Ragdale, Brooksby and the borough around them.

The society was founded in 2013 as part of a village First World War research project for which it received a National Lottery Grant.
