WIN tickets to Melton's Artisan Cheese Fair

Melton is ready to host the largest national celebration of cheese later this month.

The popular Artisan Cheese Fair takes place on the weekend of May 24 and 25 at the Stockyard, on the town’s livestock market site.

And the Melton Times has teamed up with the organisers to offer five lucky readers a pair of tickets each.

Visitors will get a chance to sample and buy some of the UK’s rarest and most sought-after cheeses – most of which are not often found on the local cheese counter.

Attending will be around 50 to 60 of the leading British and Irish cheesemakers, who between them make 200 cheeses.

Matthew O’Callaghan, organiser of the event, said: “The fair is the largest national celebration of cheese where Turophiles – cheese lovers – will have a unique opportunity to taste, sample and buy the best cheeses available in the UK and Ireland which is why so many of the UK’s leading cheese retailers attend the fair.”

As well as cheese, stalls will be selling traditional Melton Mowbray pork pies, cider, cakes, beer, chocolate, wine, charcuterie, and much more.

There is also a full programme of demonstrations and workshops, including how to make your own cheese and one for the kids on butter-making.

In the theatre, a chef/cheesemonger will demonstrate a recipe with cheese and a retailer will show you how to taste cheese with different samples.

There will also be the usual tastings sessions of different varieties like goat’s and sheep’s cheese.

An award-winning gospel choir and other musicians will provide entertainment, with a variety of street food being served up.

To stand a chance of winning a pair of tickets, simply answer the following question:

Stilton cheese is produced now at only five dairies – name one of them?

Email your answer to [email protected] and include your name, a contact mobile and your email address.

The five winners will be drawn at random and e-tickets will be sent to them.

Deadline for entries is 4pm on Monday May 19.

The event runs from 10am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
