Leicester-based Cocoa Amore, an award-winning chocolatier, will be conducting a series of workshops at ChocFest on the art of making handmade chocolates. There will be four workshops on Saturday and three on Sunday including making chocolate lollies, chocolate tastings and making a chocolate wreath for Christmas.

The workshops will last around 40 minutes, costing just £5 and can be booked in advance at www.cocoa-amore.co.uk/choc-fest (children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult).

ChocFest is a festival of all things chocolate with tastings, demonstrations, talks, workshops and plenty of chocolate and associated food and drink to buy from some of the UK’s best local producers. Other exhibitors will be selling chocolate-related products including cakes, liqueurs, macaroons, drinks, biscuits and desserts plus other stalls selling wine, champagne, cakes, pies and cheese.

Dr Matthew O’Callaghan OBE, of the Melton Mowbray Food Partnership, said: “We’re delighted that a local, artisan chocolatier such as Cocoa Amore is able to join us and impart their knowledge of making handmade chocolate. With Christmas coming up, this could be a great opportunity to make your own chocolate for presents.

“Whist Melton is famous for its Pork Pies and Stilton Cheese, we thought that it would be nice to organise something different and, just before the festive period, what could be better than a chocolate festival? We’ve already had 200 bookings for the chocolate workshops and well in excess of a thousand tickets already sold for the event itself. ChocFest will be a great boost to the town.”

ChocFest will take place from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday at the Melton Cattle Market.

Admission is £4 and children under 16 are free. Tickets will be available on the gate.
