A number of schools are closed this morning (Tuesday) as snow continues to fall across the Melton borough.

Most pupils are studying at home anyway because of the latest ongoing coronavirus restrictions but schools have stayed open for vulnerable children and those who have a keyworker parent.

But several schools are closed to all students today because of worsening conditions, including Melton’s John Ferneley College and Brownlow Primary School, plus Asfordby Captain’s Close School.

One school which is definitely staying open today, however, is Harby Primary School, although it did cancel its breakfast club for pupils.

Long Field Academy, in Melton, is also open today, as is Hose Primary School.

Students confined to home during the current lockdown or during temporary closures like today’s are being taught remotely by staff.

Here is a list of school closures (the list will be updated as we are notified with new ones):

John Ferneley College, Melton;

Brownlow Primary School, Melton;

Asfordby Captain’s Close School;

Sherard Primary School, Melton;

Somerby Primary School.
