The active voluntary club is inviting families from across the Melton area to see Santa and his sleigh from tomorrow (Tuesday) until December 23, as in previous years.

However, this year everyone will be wearing PPE, there will be no door knocking, members will be socially distanced and the numbers of helpers will be minimised.

More than 100 Round Table groups from across the country spend over 1,000 nights throughout December with their various Santa sleigh vehicles raising money for local causes and charities as well as bringing Christmas spirit to the local community.

Table chairman Ian Ringrose said: “This year has been particularly difficult for everyone, we hope to put some smiles on peoples’ faces.

“The team have worked tirelessly to plan our nights to be Covid safe, plus we have added some additional routes to our schedule.

“Our previous Santa sleighs have helped us to raise much-needed funds for local charities and we are keen to continue to show our support and this year do even more!

“We are keen to support local food banks, support mental wellbeing, Rainbows Hospice and local schools.”

He added: “A big thank you to everybody who donates to our sleigh collections this year - you will make an incredible difference to the lives of those who receive the money.”
