They will be in Market Place offering a special wrapping service for people who want to leave their gifts before returning later to collect them, complete with tags and ribbons.

There will also be the added attraction of a Christmas vintage and classic car meet in the town centre for shoppers to enjoy as they visit retailers, pubs, cafes and restaurants.

The event runs from 10am to 3pm and all Melton car parks are free to use throughout the day.

Melton BID manager, Shelagh Core, said: “You will find the Christmas elves surrounded with an array of gift tags, ribbons and gift paper to suit all tastes.

"People can leave their gifts with the elves and they will send you packing with vouchers for coffee or a beer, or two, to enjoy.

“Upon their return they can collect all their purchases, wrapped and labelled.”
