Christmas attractions are launched at Belvoir Castle
Belvoir Castle is open to the public again this Christmas after a two-year hiatus.
The stately home opened its doors to the public at the weekend for a celebration they’ve called A Magical Night Before Christmas.

Visitors get the chance to tour the early 19th century historic home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland which is decorated with elaborate and festive adornments.
A 20ft tall Christmas tree, named ‘The Wishing Tree’, is on display in the Guard Room, with visitors invited to hang a decoration on it bearing their very own Christmas wish, a heartfelt message to loved ones, hopes for the season, or dreams for the year ahead

Another impressive feature is a gingerbread replica of Belvoir Castle, which was created by Michele Walters, an accomplished cake artist based in Oakham.
There is plenty of family fun to be had with a fun quest through the castle challenging children to find the mischievous Christmas mice, which are hiding in nooks and crannies throughout its many rooms – there is a prize at the end of the trail.
Santa’s Grotto is in The Old Kitchen and every day this month, he will be joined by a selection of very mischievous elves listening to little ones revealing their Christmas wish giving them a gift.
Throughout the festive period there will be Christmas carols sung by local school choirs and groups, performed on the special stage installed in The Ballroom
