We reported this week that doctors, nurses and volunteers at the local vaccination centre at Melton Sports Village are playing their part in the remarkable national roll-out of Covid vaccines, with more than 18 million UK residents having now had a first jab.

The National Immunisation Management Service has also today published more localised figures showing how many people in local neighbourhood areas have had the vaccine.

These statistics reveal that almost 8,000 town residents have now had at least their first jab, which is about 29 per cent of the population.

In the rural areas of the borough, the neighbourhood with the most people who’ve had a jab is the area of Bottesford and Croxton Kerrial. with just over 3,000.

You can read the full list of local neighbourhood vaccinations below - the government has grouped them into geographical areas to preserve confidentiality of people living there.

In the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland area, as a whole, there have now been 294,433 people who have had their first dose - which represents 33 per cent of the adult population.

Today’s figures are likely to be significantly higher now because of the lag in reporting.

Melton and Rutland MP, Alicia Kearns, has provided an update on the vaccination rate across her entire constituency area, announcing that 44 per cent of the adult population had now had their first jab by Thursday February 25. This represents 34,030 across the county of Rutland and the borough of Melton.

She emphasised that a strong take-up of the vaccination is crucial to returning the nation to normal social interactions, as well as reopening the economy.

Mrs Kearns said: “44 per cent of adults in Rutland and Melton have received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 34,030 people.

“The vaccination programme is a tremendous source of national and community pride, and this is our route to defeat this virus, and to make life safe to reopen the economy.

“I want to thank everyone who has taken up the offer of a vaccine so far.”
