Schoolchildren and staff dress up in style for World Book Day
Schoolchildren across the Melton borough dressed up again in a huge range of colourful costumes to represent their favourite literary characters to celebrate World Book Day.
The team at Mowbray Education Trust have shared some lovely photos from their family of schools, with staff also dressing up for the day as well.

The Grove Primary School, in Melton Mowbray, had a Wizard of Oz theme and everyone was full of smiles as they walked down the Asfordby Road school’s own yellow brick road.
They made a tremendous effort with their costumes and took part in two days of special workshops related to the Wizard of Oz story.

On the same site, youngsters at Oasis Pre-School and Retreat enjoyed wearing costumer and reading their favourite stories all day.
Over at Somerby Primary School, the theme for World Book Day was 'Reading makes us happy - wear what makes you happy!'
Some children chose to come in character costumes, others wore comfy clothes or pyjamas and some children came in clothes that they wear for a hobby that they love, such as football or riding.
They all brought in a book to share from home which makes them happy and every child was given a wooden spoon to decorate as a book character.

At morning assembly, they all showed off their decorated spoons and talked about how much fun reading can be – the teachers also talked about a book that makes them happy.
Reading-themed activities were held and parents and carers were later invited for shared reading time.
At Melton’s Sherard Primary School, everyone dressed up and shared their favourite books and their shared loved of reading at a special assembly.
The theme at Ab Kettleby Primary School was ’Wear What Makes You Happy’.

The children came to school dressed as their favourite book characters, in cosy outfits and even pyjamas, creating a colourful and cheerful atmosphere across the school.
Throughout the day, pupils shared their favourite books and showcased the wooden spoon characters they had created at home.
Special book-themed activities were enjoyed in in Honeybee Class and Hive Class, while reception and Year One pupils joined in the fun by dressing up and proudly sharing their favourite stories.
