Rotarians provide laptops for isolated Melton pupils
Youngsters who are benefitting are those in families who don’t own a usable computer and those in schools where there are not enough laptops to be given out to every child who needs one.
Students at Long Field Academy are using them and so are pupils at schools in the Mowbray Education Trust.

Hide AdThe first laptops have arrived at Long Field and more will follow in the next few days at Brownlow, Sherard, Swallowdale and The Grove Primary Schools, and John Ferneley College.
Long Field Academy principal Chris Haggett said : “This was a fantastic gesture by the Rotary club.
“They donated five laptops which have gone to our most disadvantaged families and been an invaluable resource.”
President of Melton Rotary Club Adrienne Holland said: “We are concerned to help children stay in the habit of learning, who might otherwise get left behind while schools are closed due to coronavirus.”

Hide AdRotary has worked with local primary and secondary schools to identify children who would benefit and with local supplier, Melton Computers.
Target group is children in Years 5 to 9 because the government has announced a scheme for Year 10s already.
