Leicestershire County Council say 92.4 per cent of children across Leicestershire will be attending the school they want to go to, an increase of 2.1 per cent on last year’s figure.

Also, this year, more than 7,600 applications have been received - an increase of 0.33 per cent compared to 2019 – with 98 per cent of applicants being offered one of their preferred options, 4.7 per cent securing their second choice and 0.88 per cent securing their third choice.

Councillor Ivan Ould, cabinet member for children and families at County Hall, said: “We’re very pleased with these figures which remain encouraging, particularly with the increase in applications we received this year.

“We’d like to assure parents and carers that we are also here to help and support them through this process. We’re also monitoring the situation closely in regard to the current Covid-19 restrictions.”

Anyone needing advice is asked to get in touch with the county council as soon as possible to discuss what options may be available, including how to make an appeal.
