Melton primary school closes after four Covid cases reported
Staff at St Mary’s Primary School, on Brampton Road, took prompt action after the cases were identified over the weekend.
The building is being thoroughly cleaned today and a test and trace exercise is being carried out to decide which pupils and staff will need to self-isolate for a period.

Hide AdHeadteacher, Louisa Morris, said: “Over the weekend we were notified that four members of our community had tested positive for Covid-19.
“Given the number of cases, we made the difficult decision to close the school today so that we could speak to Public Health England about our response and ensure that we had the opportunity to implement out track and trace system.
“It is our hope that most of our school community can return back to school shortly, but it is likely that two bubbles will have to close in line with government guidelines.
“These children will be supported with a mixture of online learning and book work, tailored to meet their ages and abilities.
“At this stage the view of Public Health England is that these cases reflect a growing number of cases in the community.”
