The SMB Group, which was formed by the merger of BMC with Coalville-based Stephenson College confirmed the move this afternoon (Monday).

The tests will not be compulsory but the college would like as many individuals to take a test as possible.

A spokesperson for the organisation said: “The SMB Group are preparing for each of their campuses to have Covid-19 testing sites in place as early as possible – this is dependent upon securing resources and ensuring we have sufficient staff and volunteers that are trained up to support.

“The test is not mandatory, but we expect that all staff and learners will want to protect their families, friends and colleagues, so will want to participate.

“Everyone will be asked to sign a consent form; individuals who are at least 16-years-old will not require parental consent.”
