More than 100kg of litter picked up by volunteers on Melton estate
Volunteers joined forces to collect more than 100kg of litter and discarded items at a residential area in Melton Mowbray.
The effort was organised by Melton Borough Council at the Fairmead Estate, off the Nottingham Road, and involved councillors, council staff and partners.

They picked up 108.9kg of litter in more than 25 bags, as well as removing a trolley, seven old scooters and a road sign that had been dumped in the area.
Larger items which volunteers were unable to remove were reported to Biffa, who will be returning soon to take them away.
A council spokesperson said: “It was fantastic to get out and support our local community.
"We know volunteer events like these make a real difference our residents, helping to keep their neighbourhoods cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable for everyone.
"Thanks to our volunteer partners, Biffa, Melton Matters Wombles, Samworth Centre, Friends of Melton Country Park and Axis Europe Ltd.”
